I have no clue what this review will do. All I know is Xoom had no right to charge me anything at all.
I was singed up unlawfully. I am the only one in my house that pays any bills and even deals with the bills. How they signed me up is still unknown. All I know is I have been paying ComEd for my electricity I don't even look at the bill, I just pay it.
But today I looked to try and see why my bill is was so high and I found out I am paying about two times the current rate for electricity and I had no clue who Xoom Energy was until today. I thought it was the name of the service from ComEd. This is outrageous and I am ready to go to court for whatever this is called. All I know is it's not legal at all!!!
December 2017 through August 2020 that's how long they have been taking my money. I don't know how much but you better bet I'm going to get a copy of all my bills and the rates ComEd actually charges.
Xoom Energy's $0.119 Per KWH compared to ComEd's 0.0674 Per KWH this month just shows how bad I've been being robbed. $159.39 just in July 2020 worth of overcharges.

Bad Customer service - Not interested in your business
I travel on a weekly basis and am home on the weekends. Received a late notice through the mail (for one month's electrical service) on Saturday 03/07 saying my power would be cut off on Monday 03/09.
I had scheduled to contact them first thing Monday morning (hours of operation starting at 8:00 a.m.) to discuss the notice but before I could contact them, and speak to a live person, they cut the power off. After being on hold for 20 minutes, I was connected to Mario who at first obtained information on the current situation. We also concurrently paid the bill on line to ensure records were updated and to ensure restoration of service. We received a confirmation number and an acknowledgement e-mail that the payment had been processed, yet Mario could not confirm receipt of payment.
I then forwarded the email to their customer service center, as instructed, and yet they could still not confirm payment. After 30 additional minutes, we were finally able to speak with a supervisor as Mario had no intentions on resolving the issue. The supervisor finally acknowledged that the payment had been received, confirmed, and the work order had been sent but now it would take 24-48 hours to restore service. While on the phone with Xoom, we also contacted Oncor, the service provider, to try and expedite the restoration process and they indicated that as soon as they received a work order from Xoom they could restore within 2 hours.
Ironically the work order was received by Oncor while the two representatives were talking, go figure. Xoom had no intentions on expediting the process. Kudos to the Oncor rep as she was very professional and courteous.
As far as Xoom is concerned, buyer beware.
They're only in it for the money and have no desire to provide customer satisfaction. Once you're hooked, you may as well be a dead fish to them.

Think twice about signing with Xoom Energy!!
Better think twice about signing up with this company! I signed up under promotion with ACN.
I didn't realize this was an internet company. I set up monthly automatic payments. In May, they changed their payment website so my automatic payments were not honored. Couple of months later I received a $750 bill.
My contract had also came for renewal. I missed their email but they didn't try to send mail or call me. I told them that I can't pay the whole $750 at once but willing to pay my monthly bill with extra payment and I'd like to lower the variable rate which was twice the normal rates. They said it was going to take two monthly cycle before it would take effect and mean while I couldn't switch to other companies until I paid my bills.
I ended up calling other companies and switched regardless and still stuck paying these exorbitance payments. They also kept sending me pink disconnect notice threatening to turn off my electricity even after making arrangements to make payments. They could have tried to contact me and let me know about my new contract and their payment system and work with me to turn things around. By the way, you can't even see your bill online...how's that for an internet company.
I'm still having to finish paying $1,213.44 for 3 months which is over $400 per month...very ridiculous! I'll take responsibility that I should have been more vigilant and on top of my emails but still they could have been more proactive in contacting me in other ways and work with me instead of threatening with disconnection notice and making me stay paying these ridiculous rates until they would switch me to fixed rate.
There are a lot of other companies around. I would stay away from this one!
